Notes:

1) The allowable total loads provided in the table assume thet the compression flange has continuous lateral support.

2) The value provided in the left column is the allowable total load controlled by flexure or shear strenght. The value in the right column is the value of uniform total load that will produce a deflection equal to the span/180.

3) To obtain the total load that will produce deflection of span/240 and span/360 the table load should be multiplied by a factor of 0.75 and 0.5, respectively.

4) To avoid a web crippling failure, the reaction force should be less than the allowable crippling capacity computed according the ASI Standard 2001 Section C3.4.

5) The allowable total load in section can be obtained multiplying the suction load reduction factor by the gravitational allowable load. To use this reduction factor it is necessary to satisfy all the conditions enumerated in the AISI Standard 2001 Section C3.1.3.
